The Community Governance Review consultation by Central Bedfordshire Council is looking for input on a review of town and parish council arrangements.

With current and proposed developments, Stondon Parish Council is looking holistically at plans for the future and has been proactive in its investigation of what should happen with RAF Henlow when it closes; we believe Henlow Camp is a key part of this process.

We (Stondon Parish Council) would like your input on the concept of merging Henlow Camp and Stondon, with each maintaining its own identity, sharing a single Parish Council with two wards. We share a common boundary of Bedford Road and have close geographical ties, this is an opportunity to formalise a common purpose, create a set of common goals and a vision.

We could also find some economies of scale, access to joint resources, facilities and potential savings in some areas.

With all the new housing added to Stondon and Henlow Camp over the last twenty years, we believe it makes sense that we work more closely together with a single, warded Parish Council that represents the views of both Stondon and Henlow Camp.

Please complete Central Bedfordshire Council's survey (by its deadline of 5pm, 1st February) and Stondon Parish Council would appreciate if you could also complete our survey to inform our direction on this matter.
