Stondon Parish Council has been chasing Central Beds Highways about their concerns over works, road closures and changing information, for several weeks.
We posted a notice a few weeks ago with maps and list of road closures. Most of these have happened but there are more planned works in the area.
One that is causing the most concern, is the potential closure of Bedford Road (Jet garage) from the 5th to the 16th December 2022.
These works are being undertaken by an Anglian Water contractor.
The Clerk has been chasing the Streetworks Team to confirm if the road needs to be closed.
They agreed that they would send a site inspector to meet with the contractor and confirm the extent of the works and adjust the requirements if needed.
A potential outcome could be that the road is closed for a shorter period or traffic lights are used. A key requirement is keeping everyone safe during the works.
Stondon Parish Council has written to the Chief Executive of CBC raising their concerns on the way the whole thing has been handled.
Central Bedfordshire Councillor – Richard Wenham is also looking into the overall processes of Traffic Management Orders.
Including a discussion on the situation with Officers and looking at ways to limit the disruption we have been experiencing.
