Neighbourhood Plan Update
The Stondon Neighbourhood Plan is now underway. The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, set up in mid-2017, is made up of residents of the village.
We always looking for people to help us with it and shape the future of Stondon.
The first steps of the Plan are underway with a Public Consultation event held in the spring of 2018. We had a great turn out and gathered over 100 comments from our residents on the needs of the Village going forward. This was followed by a postal and online questionnaire in Spring 2019, where we received over 100 responses.
We now have the framework for the Plan in place, through feedback from yourselves and aspirations of the local community regarding the following,
- Environment: Built and Natural
- Housing
- Traffic and Transport
- Community Facilities
- Recreation and Green Spaces
- Local Business
These six items will form the backbone of the Neighbourhood Plan going forward. The working group is currently summarising all the questionnaire responses into the above categories in order to drive forward the draft policies. In due course the draft Neighbourhood Plan will go to Public consultation.
Running in parallel to the Neighbourhood Plan we will be producing a Green Infrastructure Plan for the village. The Green Infrastructure Plan will provide the village with a network of multi-functional green space and other green features, urban and rural, which can deliver quality of life and environmental benefits for our community,
There is still a lot to do!
Once the Plan is finally approved, CBC must take notice of our wishes in any planning applications and allow us to request additional monies to spend on our village. It will allow us to guide developers with the designs we require to conform with our plan.
We do have a core team in the working group, mostly comprised of volunteers rather than just Parish Councillors, but more support would be appreciated.
