The Parish Council have been chasing Mulberry Homes for a response regarding the outstanding Works, Public Open Space Brunswick Gate & Pollards Way Park Playing Fields.
In short – there will be disruption across the sites starting the week commencing the 2nd May focused on Brunswick Gate till 7th June and then disruption to Pollards Way open space from 7th June till 2nd July. They may be a crossover of works during these periods.
We raised the following points (italics) with Mulberry Homes (MH).
There are significant amounts of rubbish and contamination present onsite – MH – all rubbish will be removed.
No work had been done to level the site – MH – Over winter and spring there have been prolonged periods of inclement weather which impacted severely on the programme of works. After several aborted attempts in which large machines became bogged down, our groundwork contractor MVKelly were unable to proceed with works. Conditions have since improved, and works will start in earnest week commencing 2″ May 2021 with an anticipated completion date of week commencing 7″ June.
No works started on the Pollards Way site as per our agreement – MH – The works are programmed to proceed directly after Brunswick Gate and anticipate a commencement week beginning 7″ June and estimated completion week commencing 28″June.
Works done to install the sewer connection need rectification – MH – The rectification works have been programmed in to coincide with the Pollards Way Park drainage works including re-instatement of the wild flower beds the Council had implemented.
Compliance with Planning permissions – MH – We can confirm that the planting schedule will meet the detailed approved plans and will be implemented in accordance with the Landscape Management plan with a two year warranty
Mulberry Homes also advised – “Like all businesses, we have encountered significant challenges during the pandemic with all the disruption to our workforce and restrictive working practices that have come with it. The priorities of Mulberry have had to be preserving the business and livelihoods of those that rely on it, and as such some timescales for delivery of some parts of the development have sadly slipped, not just at Brunswick Gate but across the whole business. We will address the issues listed in due course.”
The Parish Council are pleased that Mulberry are finally moving forward, and their contractor will complete the works. We ask all residents to assist us in monitoring work done and keep us updated.
