Opening of Playground and Gym areas in Stondon

The Play Parks and Outdoor Gym the Parish Council manage are now open, following a review at the Council meeting of the 29 July.
We opened these today with notices advising all users to observe the following

  • Please be patient and kind
  • Follow current social distancing guidelines
  • Only one household to use one piece of play equipment at any one time
  • Bring your own hand sanitiser/wipes to clean equipment before and after use
  • Remind children not to put their mouths on equipment or put their hands near their face
  • Wash your hands before and after visiting the site
  • If this play area is busy, please come back later
  • Do not consume food or drink in the play area
  • Please dispose of your litter properly and take it home (this includes the disposal of gloves, face masks or any other PPE)
  • Use of this play area is at the users risk

The health and safety of our residents and visitors is our priority. Opening the play parks and gym are limited by the resources available to us. If these guidelines are seen to be being abused we will shut the parks.

Play Parks managed by the Parish Council include –

  • Pollards Way (including the open space),
  • Lily Walk
  • Birch Grove
  • Meadowsweet

The two parks on the Bovis estate are managed by SDL/Bovis.

The Parish Council have been working with the Stondon Recreation Association (SRA) to help them with the management of the situation.
Unfortunately, they are unable to open them, until they have had an opportunity to review their own risk assessment and signage.  They are also reviewing their current insurance arrangements. We hope to hear from them very soon, but have no timescales.

The sites the SRA own include the following play parks:-

  • Fakeswell Lane
  • Hillside Road
  • BMX track

Also of note is that we have openings for Parish Councillors to join us.
